Alisa is also a mentor to Evelyn Maya based on a series of serendipitous events that lead them to build a strong working relationship.  Alisa recognized the dedication, and commitment  that Evelyn had for her tattoo journey and felt that she was truly deserving of an apprenticeship opportunity.  Originally, Evelyn came to Alisa for a tattoo consultation at the age of 17, and then spent the next year working to earn the money for her first tattoo when she turned 18.  Evelyn continued to get tattoos from Alisa for the next few years, and started her tattoo journey with hand poking tattoos.  When the opportunity came up, Evelyn applied for and earned the shop helper position at Rubes Tattoos.  From there, as Alisa and Evelyn worked together, Alisa recognized her interest in tattooing which eventually lead to an official apprenticeship.
